likealeafonthewindHeavily inspired by this prompt on naye 's Guardian plot bunny farm, though not quite the same. bonibaru has already said that they'll write it but it wouldn't leave my head so I started writing my own take on it. I hope no one minds (and it's a pretty big IF I even finish this enough to post officially but lalala I'm not thinking about that right now).

Shen Wei wants to duck his head, because the prince’s gaze could be piercing even when it’s full of lustful intentions rather than bloodthirst. But he’s Shen Wei, Heipaoshi, and he may have committed to a lot with this mission, but he refuses to duck his head when he’s giving the prince his name. Not when he and the prince have already faced off on the battlefield and come away from their encounters as acknowledged equals. So he meets Crown Prince Zhao Yunlan’s gaze directly and says, “I am called Shen Wei.”
And he watches Crown Prince Zhao Yunlan repeat the name silently to himself, before laughing delightedly and saying, “What a wonderful name that is!”
