Watching The Disguiser Through the Lens of NiF

So I started watching The Disguiser yesterday, because it's basically the NiF cast in an AU setting (reincarnation fix-it, anyone? Except I'm pretty sure this show's gonna end in heartbreak too).

Anyway, I'm only a couple of episodes in, but this very much feels like it could be a reincarnation AU in which Consort Jing and Lin Chen are siblings and Consort Jing finds her two sons in this life and is taking care of them here too. (They adopt MCS after his mother dies and later take in Xiao Jingyan.) MCS is the youngest child of the family and a prodigy and they all dote on him. They try to keep him out of political schemings by sending him off to university to finish his studies and follow the path of a scholar (which, minor spoiler: it doesn't work).

Other people who are also here: Qin Banrou and Xie Yu.

So within the first 10-15 minutes or so, Qin Banrou has had 6 people tortured and executed, Lin Chen is flirting with a French girl, Jingyan has very efficiently killed a man in a bathroom, and MCS has saved Xie Yu's life.

Essentially, the core family group in NiF have all been reincarnated together and found each other in this life and I am so here for this.

Ah, cool, thanks! I don't have a subscription to Viki but I'm sure it will show up on YT eventually (as the NiF subs did). And yeah, I'll let you know if I do decide to start it. ❤️❤️❤️

Ooh I'm planning to watch this after my NiF rewatch is over. A bunch of people on my Twitter TL are watching and flailing, so I feel I have no choice. Plus, Hu Ge. Plus, I apparently already ship Jing Wang and the doctor :'O

On NiF or on The Disguiser? I ship Jing Wang with MCS|LS in NiF but I can definitely see him with Lin Chen in The Disguiser (which sadly, has very few fics in general). Hu Ge is really fun in The Disguiser! Well, his character is still a kickass prodigy but he gets more fun moments than in NiF. And Wang Kai actually gets to laugh (in a non-bitter way). I adore all of them in it even though the show itself can be pretty dark.

Yes, on the Disguiser! This is all zairaa's fault and she is writing more of them, as well. I heard Hu Ge is fun and single-handedly turns the show into borderline crack. Meanwhile I have developed quite a Jin Dong obsession.

!!! I'm so excited that she's writing more! I would honestly ship Ming Lou (Jin Dong), Ming Tai (Hu Ge), and Ah Cheng (Wang Kai) in any combination in that show. I didn't care for Lin Chen in NiF (he was a bit too over the top for me) but I really loved Ming Lou in The Disguiser.
